About me

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Queen's University.

Before I was Postdoc in the Math Department at the Pennsylvania State University under the supervision of Prof.  Alberto Bressan.

I was also a member of the CIRCLES (Congestion Impacts Reduction via CAV-in-the-loop Lagrangian Energy Smoothing) project led by UC Berkeley, in coordination with Vanderbilt University, University of Arizona, Temple University, Rutgers University-Camden, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Toyota North America, and General Motors. Specifically I worked in the research group of Prof. Benedetto Piccoli.

I received my PhD in 2019 working with Prof Fabio Ancona at Univerisity of Padova.
Here you can find a version of my CV.

My research focuses on methods coming from partial differential equations, calculus of variations and control theory to study problems in applied sciences.
In particular I work on

  • traffic flow with autonomous vehicles
  • control of invasive biological species
  • confining fire and optimal blocking problems
  • bioinspired PDE models (bio-robotics)
  • control of conservation laws
  • numerical methods for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws

In my free time I enjoy reading, watching movies, cooking and spending time with my sweet cat Marco Aurelio.  Nervous_recipes  is the page where I collect photos of my cooking experiments.  :)
